Thousands of Haredi Jews Demonstrate Against Israel’s Military Draft Law in Jerusalem

Thousands of ultra-Orthodox, or Haredi, Jews took to the streets of Jerusalem in a massive “Million Man March” opposing Israel’s proposed military conscription law. The law would require Haredi men to serve in the army, ending decades of exemption for religious study. Demonstrators filled streets and rooftops, chanting and clashing with police. The protest follows a Supreme Court ruling mandating Haredi enlistment, as political divisions deepen over Israel’s controversial draft reform.
