United have been intensely linked with a loan deal for want-away Joao Felix who has had a fractured time at Atletico Madrid

Felix became the fourth most-expensive footballer of all-time after a single season of top flight football in his homeland, and manager Diego Simeone’s plan was for him to become the leader of the Atletico attack after the departure of Antoine Griezmann to Barcelona.
Three seasons later, though, Felix is a bit-part figure in an Atletico team which has stalled significantly.

He is an expressive player with flair who craves the ball at his feet who has a style that needs players around him that are suited to him.

However, Simeone, is a pragmatic manager who craves an XI of like-minded competitors who perform as a 'menacing collective' rather than free-flowing attacking conditions.

By this stage, it’s quite clear that Simeone is not going to be able to re-wire his game in the same way he did with Antoine Griezmann in the mid-2010’s.

The ideal version of Félix should be that of a prolific playmaker who can also find his way into scoring opportunities through intelligent play in the final third, rather than that of a standard ‘striker in a front two’ who looks to work off the creation around him.

"My best position is as the second forward," the Portuguese prodigy told the Athletic earlier this year. “Playing like a No. 10, with a guy in front of me."

Concerns:

Joao Felix has only played as a Centre-Forward 29 times in 129 games for Atletico Madrid mostly operating as a second striker in most of those games (82 appearances)

Atletico Madrid refuse to include an obligation to buy, a 6 month loan will put into question how 'motivated' Joao Felix will be or how much he will buy into the project

Ten Hag's system requires an in-box presence and a focal point up front as the traditional 9. Felix likes to play in the half space where Bruno Fernandes operates and the area Christian Eriksen likes to arrive in
A central area that Ten Hag likes to create overloads in with inverted fullbacks too, Felix operating as a striker or false 9 just feels like it will upset the balance in there

Manchester United have attempted just 206 crosses this season in the Premier League, which is the second least amount in the league
United have not had a focal point box threat all season and have found ourselves often being stifled because teams know we tend to attack centrally introducing Joao Felix up front will likely mean more of the same.

Physicality is also a concern, on first glance and just on eye test he doesn't translate to a Premier league centre forward he's much more suited stylistically to playing on the half turn rather than playing with his back to a goal in the most physical league he would have ever played in.
