About this video

THE SCARIEST MINE I'VE EVER FOUND | Wire Gold & Collapsing Roofs
"I am not going to lie to you—it’s scary down here. I do not like it."

Today, I’m taking you on a real-time adventure into an abandoned gold mine that is as rich as it is dangerous. From belly-crawling through tight "squeeze" holes to finding specimen-grade wire gold sticking right out of the pillars, this trip was a constant battle between the thrill of the find and the instinct to run for the portal.

🧨 The "Death Trap" Geology
This mine is a textbook example of why "robbing pillars" is so dangerous. The old-timers left pillars to hold up the mountain, but they were so rich that someone came back later to chip away at them.

Rotten Stalls: The timbers are old and failing, no longer supporting the weight above.

Sheared Pillars: I found pillars that have literally cracked and sheared under the pressure of the shifting hanging wall.

Loose Ground: Huge slabs of rock have already fallen, and the "ravelly" ceiling looks like it could go at any second.

💰 The Motherlode in the Muck
While the walls were almost too hard to mine with a hand chisel, I made two incredible discoveries:

The Muck Pile Bonanza: I found an old pile of waste rock (muck) that the miners either missed or forgot. It turns out, nearly every other piece is loaded with gold. I managed to bag about 25 lbs of high-grade ore without even swinging a hammer.

Visible Wire Gold: I spotted a gold wire sticking right out of a pillar. With a little "surgical" work with the hammer, I pulled out a beautiful nugget that was just barely hanging on.

🔦 Inside the Workings
The Belly Crawl: Navigating a terrifyingly tight spot to access the main stoope.

The Winze & Draw Points: Finding deep vertical shafts and old ore-passing systems.

The "Ledge" Discovery: Finding a foot-wide vein of rich, gray quartz.

⚠️ WARNING: Abandoned mines are extremely dangerous. This video was filmed by a professional with safety gear and experience. Never enter abandoned mines—the ground can fail without warning.

STAY TUNED for Part 2 where we take this 25 lbs of "Muck Pile" gold back to the shop, crush it, and see just how much gold was hiding in those rocks!
