In 1970, ‎Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454’s legendary LS6 package changed the muscle-car game. With a 454-cubic-inch (7.4 L) big-block V8, 11.25:1 compression, forged internals and an 800-cfm Holley carb, it was conservatively rated at 450 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. The result? Tested 0-60 mph in about 5.5 seconds and quarter-miles in the low-13s. Only around 4,400 of these LS6 cars were built, making them ultra-rare and ultra-feared. For one year only, GM let loose this street-legal racing monster — it wasn’t just fast. It dominated.
