Kerala's K-FON: Bridging the Digital Divide for All 🚀

While Kerala already had the highest internet penetration of more than 56%, their recent project is set to transform industries by being true to their statement, “Internet for all.” Kerala has now become India’s first state to have set up its own internet facility and the name of the facility is the Kerala Fibre Optic Network. The project was started in 2019 with the belief that the internet should be a basic right. Since then, around 34,000 kilometers of optic divers have been installed across the state. It is capable of setting up more than 40 lakh internet connections. So far, it has provided internet to more than 7000 families coming from below the poverty line. Their aim is to provide 1.5 GB of internet per day at 15 Mbps for free to over 20 lakh BPL households.
