Modern cryptography hinges on the existence of solvable mathematical puzzles which we hope others are too dumb to solve efficiently. Innovative cryptography is based on the assumption that our attackers lack an innovative spirit. If we (so smart as we are) think a problem is hard, then our adversaries (dumb as they are) will surely be frustrated by it. This is the shaky essence of our cyber security. Unproven mathematical intractability underlies our national security, supports financial transmissions, is foundational in crypto currencies. This video highlights this inconvenient fact, and points to a strategic solution: quantum grade randomness (to be elaborated on in the next lesson).
