As a multiple time wrestling champion, Mark Coleman debuted at UFC 10 and got 3 finishes, including 2 over Gary Goodridge and Don Frye to become the tournament champion in 1996.
A few months later, he got 2 more finishes, to become the UFC 11 tournament champion.
The next year at UFC 12, he submitted dan severn to become the first UFC heavyweight champion.
His dominant, undefeated run, made him seem unbeatable but in his first defense at UFC 14, he lost a decision to Maurice Smith.
Afterward, he suffered 2 back-to back losses before moving to Pride FC, where he used his vicious ground and pound to go 5-1 on his run to becoming the 2000 Grand Prix Champion.
That was the peak of his career as he would go 5-6 afterward, losing to every legend you can think of, including Big Nog, Fedor Emelianenko twice, Cro Cop, Shogun Rua, and Randy Couture, but that doesn’t discredit
