About this video

From a small farmer in Nashik to leading a 1500 cr farmer producer company, Vilas Shinde’s journey with Sahyadri Farms is nothing short of inspiring. Vilas grew up seeing farmers struggling due to middlemen and unfair prices. They could barely make ends meet despite their hard work. He decided to change the game.
In 2004 he made his first attempt by getting together with 12 farmers. By 2010, they geared up to export their first big order of grapes to The Netherlands. But, they ended up with a loss of over 6 crores. Despite losing it all, he didn’t give up and covered the loses of farmers on his own. Today, Sahyadri Farms is India’s largest farmer-producer company. 24000+ farmers are part of this movement, producing export-quality fruits like grapes, pomegranates, and mangoes, along with dry-fruits and other products.
But it wasn’t just about revenue—it was about dignity and empowerment. Vilas built a model where farmers not only grow but also own the entire supply chain, earning fair prices and securing their futures.
From humble beginnings to ₹1,500 crore in revenue, Sahyadri is proof that one vision, fuelled by passion and hard work, can transform lives and inspire a nation.

A farmer producer company (FPC) is a company that’s owned and managed by farmer members.
