The Enigma Code of World War II: Alan Turing and Bletchley Park's Codebreakers

The Enigma machine was a cypher device used by Germany during World War II to encrypt military communications. However, the seemingly unbreakable Enigma code was eventually cracked by a team of British codebreakers at Bletchley Park, led by mathematician Alan Turing. Turing designed the Bombe, an early electromechanical machine that successfully broke the Enigma code, a feat that was instrumental in shortening WW2. Turing's work on the Enigma machine is considered a precursor to modern computers, revolutionising the field of cryptography and computing. His efforts are portrayed in the film The Imitation Game.

I've been a storyteller all my life with a deep love of history. As a dreamer in Sunday School, I was mesmerised by the stories of the Bible - David and Goliath, the Battle of Jericho and the parting of the Red Sea. But through my teenage years, I struggled to get the whole religious thing and left it well alone. It took me some time to realise I needed to go back and pick up what I left behind. At 20 I encountered the God of the Bible stories I had learned about as a kid and it changed my life forever.
