The Digital Data Chain - Explained! (VDI 2770 | IEC 61406 | IEP | Digital Twin)

In this video, we explain the Digital Data Chain easily and understandably. The background, the requirements, and the goal of the Digital Data Chain are addressed.

The Digital Data Chain was launched by the Digital Data Chain Consortium (https://digitaldatachain.com/) to implement Industry 4.0 quickly and efficiently through a standardized exchange of information between plant operators, service providers, and manufacturers of machines and components.

The Digital Data Chain combines three technologies:
✅ Automatic identification of physical objects (IEC 61406 / AutoID, formerly DIN SPEC 91406),
✅ Digital manufacturer information (VDI 2770), and
✅ Digital Information Exchange Platforms (IEP - Information Exchange Platform),
to a coordinated approach for automated identification of objects in work processes, as well as automated access to information about the objects.
