Quantum Computers are coming. When they are powerful enough, they will be able to break our current encryption standards. This would mean the end of internet security and privacy as we know it. Eight years ago, NIST began the world's nerdiest Hunger Games: a battle royale in which cryptographers could submit their own quantum-resistant and algorithms and break each others'. In this video, we delve into the history of this contest, explore how three new post-quantum cryptographic standards actually work, and why they are resistant to quantum attacks.
