About this video

A mystery episode from the 1st ever series of Poirot, from 1989. Hercule Poirot is feeling sorry for himself after falling ill with a cold. As a treat to cheer him up, his friend Captain Hastings decides to take him to see the new murder mystery at the local theatre. But upon returning that night it seems he has a murder right on his doorstep when his next door neighbours find themselves locked out of their flat, and two of their friends enter the wrong flat, only to find a body...

Starring David Suchet, Hugh Fraser, Philip Jackson, Pauline Moran, Suzanne Burden, Nicholas Pritchard, Robert Hines, Amanda Elwes, Josie Lawrence, Susan Porrett, Alan Partington, James Aiden and Gillian Bailey (who viewers may remember from Here Come The Double Deckers, playing here a character called Mrs Sadler). This is from my own recording of the show from a broadcast only a few years ago. The episode was originally broadcast on February 5th 1989, and is uploaded here because it features the actress Amanda Elwes in only her 2nd screen role (though she did do adverts before then), who seemed to be in everything from 1989 to 1994 before eventually disappearing from our screens. Be warned, this contains...a murder!
