About this video

Experimenting with visual cryptography as a watermark for future videos.

This test is to see if I can reconstruct the encrypted text after YouTube video compression. For this test, the private second cipher and solution images are revealed. This wouldn't be the case in a real world scenario, where the encrypted text would be a random string and both it and the second cipher would be private/offline.

If you'd like to play along. Print screen the two ciphers and in your image processor of choice, change the overlay type of the top layer to display the hidden string. It should match the one at the end of the video.
Solution = CPE1794TKS

If you'd like to DIY your own, I used CrypTool 2.1 here.

The graphics are a reference to 1983 movie WarGames.

The secret phrase revealed here is similar to the last string outputted by Joshua in the climax of the film.
In the movie: CPE1704TKS
Here: CPE1794TKS ( My mistake :) )

I considered keeping this video private but if nothing else it may spark my viewers interest, feedback and highlight other potential solutions.

As to why I would bother with this, well really big linear algebra is here to stay.
