Does your research need large-scale computing, data management, or storage? This talk provides an overview of some of the expertise, resources and services available to support your research.
Compute Canada, in partnership with WestGrid and other regional organizations, provides state-of-the-art advanced research computing (ARC) systems and software for Canadian researchers and their collaborators in all academic and industrial sectors. Funded in part through the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), these services and resources are available for free to any academic researcher in Canada.
Service offerings include:
- Computation โ Expandable power ranging from the equivalent of a second desktop to supercomputers with thousands of cores, terabytes of RAM, and a variety of system architectures.
- Data Storage โ Robust storage solutions for backup and mid- to long-term storage.
- General Analyst/Consultant Support โ Consultations regarding project architecture and resource needs with technical experts with skills ranging from specialty software selection to program optimization.
- Globus โ Fast, secure, sharing and fire-and-forget file transfers.
ownCloud โ 50Gb of shareable, Dropbox-like space available across multiple devices.
- Portals โ Hosting for specialized data and tools for entire research communities.
- Specialized Software โ More than 250 software programs and packages already integrated with Compute Canada systems.
- Visualization Support โ Dedicated 3D visualization expert available.
- Cloud โ Virtual-machine development space that includes an outward-facing IP address.
