About this video
Sea Hunter is an unmanned surface vehicle (USV) that was developed as part of the DARPA Anti-Submarine Warfare Continuous Trail Unmanned Vessel (ACTUV) program in 2016.
The Sea Hunter will not be armed, but will instead trail sensors designed to detect and track submarines. The vessel could operate alongside Littoral Combat Ships, effectively extending the LCS ASW module.
Sea Hunter will carry approximately 40 tons of fuel and reached a top speed of around 27 knots during trials.
During the testing period, a removable operator control station is installed "for safety and backup" until it can be determined that she can reliably operate on her own.
