Heroic Tale of Major Shaitan Singh 🇮🇳

Major Shaitan Singh Bhati was a brave officer of the Indian Army, born on 1 December 1924 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. He became famous for his heroic role in the Battle of Rezang La during the Indo-China War of 1962.

On 18 November 1962, he led C Company of 13 Kumaon Regiment at Rezang La (Ladakh) against a massive Chinese attack at 18,000 feet altitude. Despite being heavily outnumbered and facing freezing conditions, Major Shaitan Singh inspired his soldiers to fight till the last breath. Almost all of them, including him, made the supreme sacrifice but did not let the Chinese capture Rezang La.

For his extraordinary courage, leadership, and sacrifice, he was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military honor.
