Step-by-Step Guide to Laying a Type 1 Sub-Base for Artificial Grass in Ayrshire 🏡

Buntis Budget Artificial Grass are based in High Street, Irvine, North Ayrshire. In this video we demonstrate how to guage the fill depth of the Type 1 MOT sub-base (ministry of transport). We firstly constructed a tanalised timber perimeter frame and laid a geotextile membrane of which there are two types woven and non woven. Non woven is better for drainage, so it is better for areas that dogs urinate on, woven is a stronger material. In this fake lawn installation we laid out straight timber batons from edge to edge of our frame to check for spaces underneath. We then top up with more Type1 one until we get to the desired depth. Don't use warped, banana shaped batons for obvious reasons.
A similar process is employed for when we lay the final smooth, cushioning layer of for example 6mm drainage stone, whin dust or grano dust.
