Sri Lanka is battling one of its worst weather disasters in recent years. At least 31 people have died and 14 are missing as nonstop heavy rains flood major towns, block highways, and trigger dangerous landslides. Drone visuals from Kandy, Batticaloa and Polonnaruwa show farms, roads and densely populated areas completely submerged. Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake chaired an emergency meeting as authorities warn of more heavy rainfall — up to 200 mm — that could worsen the crisis.
