COMPOSER COMMENTARY - Mom I frew up:
So this song starts as most others do, in Japan. I was stuck on the Spooper theme for a long time, since (SPOILERS FOR THE WAMBU VIDEO) Wambu had told me that Spooper was his top spot, and thus I wanted to do something special for the little (?) guy(?).
I had just missed the last train to my hotel, and so I resigned myself to my fate and walked two hours there. While walking through the Tokyo streets, I listened to an album called "Ugly Season" by Perfume Genius. The sound of that album (particularly the song Hellbent) inspired the vibe I was aiming for, especially in its synth and guitar (?) work, creating vast soundscapes that reminded me of Spooper's spores that envelop the air and [I WANT THIS SONG TO BE ADVERTIZER FRIENDLY].
Although Ugly Season was a huge inspiration, I was also trying to hit a sound close to Akira Yamaoka's The Reverse Will (which is one of Wambu's favorite songs, btw.) so he would like it. What was the point I was making. I don't know. I forgot because I keep thinking about how awesome Wambu is. I love you Wambu (:
