This is how the USSR planned to defeat NATO,
In 1979 NATO looked like this while this was the Warsaw Pact created by the USSR. At first the USSR planned to nuke Poland so NATO wouldn’t be able to counterattack the USSR.
After this the USSR planned to launch nukes on Germany Denmark Belgium and Italy because they didn’t have their own to retaliate with. Neutral Austria was also supposed to get nuked so Hungarian troops could easily capture Austria.
After this millions of Soviet and Czech troops were going to march through all this nuclear wasteland in just seven days and conquer everything up to the River Rhine.
