Sonoran Mexican Takes DNA Ancestry Test from MyHeritage and Shares Results 🇲🇽

Being Mexican myself, from Northern Mexico, I never knew what my actual ethnicity was so I never got to identify with any. It’s common for Mexicans, not to know our own ethnicities since plenty of us are taught in school that we are all part of one single race, “The Bronze Race (or Mexican Race ). This can be quite problematic because it propitiates the erasure of many Indigenous identities, putting all of us Mexicans in a box. Now I know that I am of Indigenous Mexican, Spanish, Native American, Italian and some other descents.

I don’t know if I should pick one of them as my ethnicity, but I can embrace the fact that I am a racially-mixed Mexican, who has never been “otherized” or felt like “a minority”.

I highly reccomend you to take a DNA test, it might change your whole perspective on who you are, and you might be surprised. 🤗
