Sneaking In Some Garden Work Before Wiley Got Home

Howdy y’all, welcome back to the channel!
Today was a girls-only homestead work day and we took full advantage of Wiley being gone — which meant Lilee and I got to borrow the tractor and sneak in some spring garden prep! It may be winter, but the weather has been unseasonably warm and we are determined to get the 2026 garden off to a strong start.

We moved mulch with the John Deere tractor, added it to the raised beds, and tilled everything in for better soil structure and moisture retention. After that, we planted a few flower bulbs and talked about our plans for spring planting and what we hope to grow this year. Even though we didn’t finish all the beds (a hydraulic line leak had other plans!), we made solid progress and had a wonderful day working together in the garden.

Every season teaches us something new about off-grid gardening, soil health, composting, and growing as a family. This year’s garden is already shaping up to be our best one yet, and we’re excited to show you the journey from prep to harvest.
