Shubman Gill Reveals How Captaincy Boosts His Performance in T20 World Cup 🏏

Shubman Gill believes that captaincy brings the "best out of him" because it brings out a side of him where he really enjoys being out on the field.

"It is something that I definitely enjoy," Gill said about captaincy after leading India to a 4-1 T20I series win over Zimbabwe in Harare. "I think it brings out the best in me when I am out there because I look to be involved in the game. It is something that really brings out the side of me which I enjoy being on the field."

With most of the senior players rested, Gill was asked to lead the Indian side for the first time in his career. His stint started on a tough note with India going down in the opening game of the series, but he quickly found his stride as the visitors posted comfortable wins in the next four games.

In the recent announcement, Gill was named India's new vice-captain in white-ball cricket and will be deputy to Suryakumar Yadav in T20Is and Rohit Sharma in ODIs.

However, Bumrah still feels that if given the opportunity to lead the country, he is all set to take up the role.

In a conversation with Indian Express recently, Bumrah said, “That is something that I don’t decide I cannot go to you know the team and say now you have to make me Captain. I don’t have that much power and it is above my paygrade.”

The new era of Indian cricket management under head coach Gautam Gambhir appears to be focusing on Shubman Gill as the prospective captain for all formats. Ahead of the upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka, Gambhir's inaugural assignment as coach, Gill has been elevated to the vice-captaincy position for both the ODI and T20I teams.
Reports indicate that the management is planning for Gill to act as deputy to Rohit Sharma in the forthcoming Test series against Bangladesh in September.

In a video that surfaced during the GT vs DC match, Maria, was seen cheering on for Shubman Gill from the stands. And Gill was also seen reacting to her video, the moment she came on the screen.
