Shock Injury for World Champion Chloe Dygert in Women's Time Trial 🚴‍♀️

World champion Chloe Dygert has undergone leg surgery after she suffered a heavy fall on the opening day of the UCI Road World Championships in Italy and she will miss Saturday's road race.

The American was favourite to win her second consecutive title in the women's individual time trial.

She was reported to be conscious after losing control on a descent and crashing toppling over a barrier.

Victory went to Anna van der Breggen of the Netherlands with Switzerland's Marlen Reusser second. Ellen van Dijk completed the podium.
