About this video
“I’ve always been on my wheelchair, being born with multiple joint disorders. So, my wheelchair’s been my best friend. Now of course the relatives had opinions - ‘Isse toh kabhi ladka nai milega.’ At times, even I’d wonder… ‘Will I ever find love?’ But at 19, a fb friend request changed everything!
The name read ‘Shashi’. I thought he was my schoolmate; I texted him, ‘Are we from the same school?’ He said, ‘No!’ Still, we continued to speak & in fact, we spoke till 5AM! We had nothing in common- he lived in Patna & I, in Delhi, I’m an extrovert & he is an introvert. But being different drew us to each other. Then on, we spoke every night! I remember our 1st phone call. We both said ‘Hi!’ & then immediately cut the call. We were so shy! But the next call lasted for hours.
For the next 10 months, we’d speak daily. Slowly, I began trusting him. I confided in him about my disabilities & even past relationships!
So, in September 2011, when he came to Delhi, we met. I was nervous; I took my best friend with me for ‘our’ date! But he didn’t mind. And the next day, it was just us. All my insecurities about my body went away when I was around Shashi. And when I had to drop him off at the airport, I already missed him!
Next month, he came to Delhi again. This time, he said, ‘I Iike you. Can we be together?’ I said ‘Yes!’
Shashi didn’t make me feel like a ‘burden’. He wheeled on walks, helped me go to the washroom & even helped me sit in the car! He makes me feel like the prettiest girl in the world! We’ve been on so many trips together- Ooty, Bhutan, Kerala!
So, in 2021, after spending 11 years together, we tied the knot! There was no proposal; we simply said, ‘Shaadi kar lete hai.’ But Shashi’s parents had their qualms about our union. When they didn’t agree, we decided to get married anyway.
We had a beautiful wedding! Shashi wheeled me around during the 7 pheras. We danced & made countless memories! Shashi’s parents also came around. In fact, just last Sunday they threw a reception party for us!
Who knew a simple ‘Hi’ on FB would lead me to my soulmate? With Shashi, this one life isn’t going to be enough… I know we’re meant to be together for 7 lifetimes!"
