Loren Legarda stresses the importance of investing in traditional craft of indigenous peoples, stressing that it does not only support the livelihood of communities but also strengthens national identity. As the chairman of the Philippine Senate Committee on Culture and the Arts, she said that the partnership of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) would help ensure that heritage-based skills would be recognized within the formal education system.
