Scientists Created Quantum Internet Using Teleportation

Researchers from the University of Delft have achieved a groundbreaking milestone in quantum computing by performing quantum teleportation between two non-neighboring nodes in a three-node quantum network. This advancement is crucial for the secure transmission of information between quantum computers, paving the way for the development of a quantum internet.

It had been demonstrated that quantum teleportation between two nodes next to each other is possible, and this work shows that even when there’s a third node in between you can still transfer your quantum information. Scientists say they have successfully shared information between Alice and Charlie, despite the fact they are not connected.

Quantum computers have the potential to revolutionize complex computation, but their unique properties present challenges in communication between devices. Quantum teleportation enables high-fidelity transfers, overcoming these obstacles and unlocking new possibilities in quantum information sharing. This achievement marks a significant step towards building a larger quantum network and connecting advanced computers on a whole new level.
