Salt-Water Chemistry Experiment with Food Coloring

About this video

Try this salt-water science trick at home!
Youโ€™ll need: food coloring, salt, ice, 2 glasses of water
1: Add salt to one glass.
2: Add ice to both glasses. Wait 1 minute (donโ€™t stir).
3: Squeeze food coloring into both glasses. Watch what happens!

Whatโ€™s going on? Salt water is denser than plain water. In other words, it has more stuff packed into the same space. The ice-and-color layer is mostly plain water. The denser salt water pushes up on the plain water, and the color floats!
