Russia Claims Capture of Pokrovsk Before Moscow Talks

Russian President Vladimir Putin claims his forces have captured the Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk. He says the capture will "resolve key tasks" in his offensive. The Ukrainian military has told the Reuters news agency they are still holding norhern parts of the city.

Meanwhile shuttle diplomacy to end the war in Ukraine continues. US special envoy Steve Witkoff is expected to meet with President Vladimir Putin later today. Witkoff met the Russian leader earlier this year, but this time he will bring the amended version of the original 28-point peace plan. Ukraine has now tentatively backed this version.
