About the Speaker:

Rosemary Hollis is Professor of Middle East Policy Studies and Director of the Olive Tree Scholarship Programme at City University London. She previously served as Director of Research at Chatham House from 2005 to 2008 and was Head of its Middle East Programme from 1995 to 2005. She holds a PhD in Political Science from George Washington University, where she lectured during the 1980s, and a BA and MA in War Studies from King's College, University of London.

After six extraordinary months of political upheaval across North Africa and the Middle East, Professor Hollis will consider the implications of Western involvement in the Arab revolutions and will assess the prospects for democratic transition in the Arab world.
