About this video
Interview with Rory Gallagher on the occasion of the first Rockpalast recording in the legendary WDR Studio L in Essen.
Rory Gallagher's trademark was the electric guitar he played almost exclusively, a Fender Stratocaster built in 1961. Characteristic of Gallagher's guitar was its body, which originally had a sunburst finish that had been largely worn away over the years through intensive use of the instrument and had never been renewed. Other parts of the instrument, however, were regularly repaired and modified. After Gallagher's death, Fender released a special edition Stratocaster, an exact replica of Gallagher's guitar down to the detail of the paint damage.
Gallagher usually used a Vox AC30 guitar amplifier in conjunction with a "Rangemaster", a treble booster from Dallas.
