Dr Lim Hock Siew was a medical doctor and politician whose contributions to Singapore was cut short by the Peopleβs Action Party (PAP) government. He and Dr Poh Soo Kai founded the Rakyat Clinic (Peopleβs Clinic) along Balestier Road to serve the community and the poor.
Dr Lim Hock Siew was a founder member of the PAP and subsequently, a member of the Central Executive Council of the Barisan Sosialis when the party split. He was arrested and imprisoned without trial for nearly 20 years in Operation Coldstore on 2 February 1963.
