Eight years ago today, Dr Lim Hock Siew passed away. He was 81.

Dr Lim Hock Siew was a medical doctor and politician whose contributions to Singapore was cut short by the Peopleโ€™s Action Party (PAP) government. He and Dr Poh Soo Kai founded the Rakyat Clinic (Peopleโ€™s Clinic) along Balestier Road to serve the community and the poor.

Dr Lim Hock Siew was a founder member of the PAP and subsequently, a member of the Central Executive Council of the Barisan Sosialis when the party split. He was arrested and imprisoned without trial for nearly 20 years in Operation Coldstore on 2 February 1963.
