Rare Clash: UN Peacekeepers Shoot Down Israeli Drone in Southern Lebanon 🚁

A UN peacekeeping unit (UNIFIL) in southern Lebanon shot down an Israeli military drone during a surveillance mission over Kafr Kila. UNIFIL claimed the drone flew aggressively near its patrol, prompting defensive fire. Israel confirmed the loss of the drone but said it posed no threat. After the shootdown, Israel reportedly sent another drone that dropped a grenade to mark the crash site — an act UNIFIL says endangered its personnel. The UN force also alleged an Israeli tank fired toward its observers, which the Israeli military denied. The IDF said the matter is under investigation. This follows earlier UNIFIL accusations that Israeli drones dropped grenades near peacekeepers, one of whom was injured. Israel maintains its actions target Hezbollah, not UNIFIL, and criticizes the UN force for failing to restrain Hezbollah’s border activity.
