Q-PrEP: Strengthening European Public Administration with Post-Quantum Cryptography 🔐

Quantum Computing (QC) is gaining performance exceedingly fast and expected to become useful soon for attacking state-of-the-art asymmetric cryptography, in ubiquitous use for the exchange of secret keys. Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) replaces schemes prone to QC code breaking by cryptographic systems almost impossible to crack - even by the most performant QC algorithms. The transformation to quantum-safe communication constitutes a challenge for the public sector and the administrative institutions where trustworthy and secure IT is indispensable. Q-PrEP, the project on Quantum-Proofing European Public Administrations is specifically suited and founded by the EU to support and promote this transformation, paving the way to PQC in the public sector by means of a purposive collaboration of a dedicated network comprising public institutions, cybersecurity agencies, corporate IT, and cybersecurity research.
