Former Law Minister and former Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab, Ashwani Kumar, has praised the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab and the state police’s recent action against Amritpal Singh and Waris Punjab De whilst adding that criticism that the Punjab government has been slow to act and should have taken a tougher stand at the time of the Ajnala incident is mistaken. He says to have acted in February, when Waris Punjab De supporters were holding the Guru Granth Sahib in their hands, would have created an inflammatory situation. Now, Mr. Kumar adds, the government has clearly coordinated its action both with the Central government and Assam government and acted with firmness and assurance.
