Portlanders Frustrated by Duplicate Tax Demand Letters 🏙️

May 30 on The Story: Last week, the city of Portland sent out thousands of letters warning recipients that they didn't pay a pair of local taxes meant to fund homeless services and preschool. But many of the people who received those letters claim they did pay the taxes in full — and now they're having to spend hours on the phone trying to correct the issue. A city official insists that the letters "accurately reflect penalties and interest owed for underpaid taxes." So who's in error?
