Polyp-Related Sinusitis: A Common Cause of Postnasal Drip 🤧

Once the cause has been identified, i.e. the correct diagnosis has been made, treatment often becomes available. In this patient, we diagnosed sinusitis with polyps / nasal polyposis as the cause of the postnasal drip. After a period of medical treatment, the postnasal drip disappeared and the anatomical details became clear. In this case, the patient can be managed with endoscopic follow-up or further treatment can be planned; an endoscopic sinus surgery can be performed to treat the residual disease. There are many other causes and treatments for postnasal drip than the patient presented here.

Geniz akıntısının nedeni belirlendiğinde, yani teşhis doğru yapıldığında tedavisinin de çoğu kez mümkün olduğu görülebilir. Bu hastada geniz akıntısının nedeni olarak polipli sinüzit hastalığı / Nazal polipozis hastalığını teşhis ettik. Belirli bir süre ilaç tedavisi uygulandıktan sonra geniz akıntısı ortadan kalktığı gibi, anatomik detaylar da ortaya çıkar. Bu durumda hasta endoskopik takiplerle izlenebilir ya da ileri tedavisi planlanabilir bu durumda endoskopik sinüs cerrahisi ile sonrasını yönetmek mümkündür. Geniz akıntısının buradaki hastada olduğundan başka nedenleri ve tedavileri de vardır.
