The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday launched the second phase of its midnight raids, "Operation Octopus," in eight states and Union Territories, days after the significant crackdown on the top officials and employees of the radical Islamic group Popular Front of India (PFI). '' Raids against PFI members under Operation Octopus are mostly carried out for allegedly sponsoring terrorism in the nation. Tuesday saw raids carried out in Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Assam, and Maharashtra. Raids were conducted at Shaheen Bagh, Nizamuddin, and Jamia Nagar in Delhi. On September 22, numerous raids conducted by the National Investigative Agency (NIA) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) teams resulted in the arrest of over 247+PFI members.
