The first job Paul Alter got as a director was back in 1950. It was on a TV show called “Beat the Clock” and this game show brought huge success to him as a director of the TV show. After completing this TV series, began Alter's long lasting cooperation with Mark Goodson-Bill Todman Productions. In the years to come he worked on many shows produced by Mark Goodson. Those project list the well-known TV shows like What's My Line?, I've Got a Secret and To Tell the Truth. <br />With his work Paul Alter helped Goodson-Todman bring to the viewers more than 60 game shows during the period between 1956 and 2000 when he was active as a director. In this period Alter directed all of the company’s shows pilots, even if other directors took the credit for his work on the series.
