About this video
Patrick Mahomes was responsible for injuring Rashee Rice in a play that could ruin the Kansas City Chiefs season. Already down 10-0 to their AFC West rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers, Mahomes threw an interception to a Chargers defender. As he attempted to make up for his own mistake and tackle the returner, Mahomes closed his eyes and accidentally launched into his best wide receiver. Mahomes made contact with the knees of Rice, who was also trying to tackle the ball carrier, and the second-year wide receiver ended up getting carted off the field because of the hit to the knee. He was later ruled out for the rest of the game. Rice is coming off of a game where he combined with Mahomes to catch 12 passes for 110 yards and one touchdown against the Falcons. He has been the top target in the Chiefs offense while Travis Kelce started the season slow, and his absence would be a huge self-inflicted wound, ironically caused by Mahomes himself.
