About this video
You're thinking of applying to Oxford to study Engineering, Physics or Materials Science? Then you know the Physics Aptitude Test (or PAT) is part of the admissions process. But how do you best prepare for it?
In this video, I share my six strategies to succeed on the Physics Aptitude Test:
1) Spend roughly one minute per mark, leaving some time for reading and checking though answers.
2) Skip hard Multiple Choice Questions (or MCQs) since they're all worth the same amount of marks.
3) Flick through the whole paper at the start so you know what's to come. This will help you prepare to tackle the 2 hour beast and ensure you finish it
4) Start with the easy questions and bank the juicy marks!
5) Always show your working out. If you get the end answer wrong, you could still pick up some marks from your workings.
6) Make it easy for the examiner. Ensure your work is clear, legible, logically presented and that the final answer is highlighted/circled/underlined.
