UN Official: Slow Progress on Uyghurs in China 🕊️

“Progress is extremely slow . . . I’m frustrated by that, enormously,” says UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, addressing sluggish progress on human rights issues affecting Uyghurs in China. Turk reiterates his full alignment with a report issued under his predecessor, Michelle Bachelet, which identified possible crimes against humanity, and explains his strategy of repeated engagement with Chinese authorities on Xinjiang, Hong Kong, Tibet, and civic space.
