Olivia Dean epitomizes cool English sensibilities. The East London native is a self-described “granny” who's obsessed with drinking tea and spends idle hours penning poetry and lyrics in her room. Mom had young Olivia listening to Aretha and other women vocalists who boasted a “fierce, killin’ it vibe.” That’s the wheelhouse in which the honey-voiced singer has organically developed her own personality. She also notes that Solange, Amy Winehouse and 'Graceland'-era Paul Simon have deeply influenced her palette. Trained at The BRIT School, a powerhouse arts academy with a deep reputation for nurturing talent, the 21-yr-old's vids for “Baby Come Home” and “Crosswords” got major love from viewers who related to the stuck-at-home themes.
