Marijuana Is Now , Legal in Ohio.<br />Ohio has become the 24th state <br />where adult-use marijuana is legal.<br />The new voter-approved law went into effect <br />at midnight on Dec. 7, Politico reports. .<br />Adults who are at least 21 years old <br />in Ohio can now possess up to <br />2.5 ounces of cannabis and grow six plants.<br />But Ohio lawmakers are already proposing<br />legislation to alter the initiative.<br />On Dec. 7, Ohio's Senate "passed legislation to alter <br />potency caps, taxation, home cultivation, and social <br />equity and expungement provisions," Politico reports. .<br />The proposal would allow medical dispensaries to <br />start selling to recreational customers right away. .<br />It would also increase the number of plants allowed <br />at home and raise excise tax from 10% to 15%.<br />Instead of tax revenues going toward <br />social equity and a jobs program, .<br />it would pay for "law enforcement training, substance abuse treatment and the stateβs general fund," Politico reports.<br />Tom Haren, a spokesperson for the legalization <br />campaign, says that the Senate's proposed potency restrictions and increased tax rates will likely cause Ohioans to go to Michigan for marijuana
