About this video

Berries custard crinkled phyllo dessert is a copycat of the Greek Soufra .
Soufra means ruffle which makes sense to its final look of phyllo .
For the phyllo layer you need ;
1 package phyllo dough
1/2 cup melted unsalted butter ๐Ÿงˆ

Some berries of choice and powdered sugar to dust your pastry after baking .
For the custard filling you need :
1 cup milk
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
3 eggs
1/2 cup granulated sugar
Vanilla .

Method
Thaw your phyllo dough completely.
Work with two sheets at a time and crinkle as shown in the video above .
Fill out your baking dish and make sure the folds are loose not dense so that the custard soaks them well .
Brush the Phylloโ€™s with generous amount of melted butter .
Bake in a preheated oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 15-20 minutes until golden and crispy .
Prepare the custard by whisking all its ingredients together .
Remove the baked phyllo from the oven , pour the custard mixture over it.
Return to the oven ( second bake) and bake for 15-20 minutes untill the custard is set .
Allow to cool for room temperature, dust with powdered sugar, cut and serve .
