Salman Rushdie Reflects on 2022 Attack 🗡️

#Sundance2026: In an interview with TheWrap’s @sharonwaxman, novelist Salman Rushdie said “Knife: The Attempted Murder of Salman Rushdie” began as a record he and his wife agreed to make as he recovered from his 2022 stabbing attack to show what a terrorist attack looks like up close.

Featuring previously unseen footage of his recovery journey, the film reflects what Rushdie describes as two opposing forces at the heart of both the book and the film: the hatred of his attacker and the love of his wife, which ultimately shaped the story.
