No. 5 Georgia held off a late Florida rally to claim a 24-20 win in Jacksonville’s annual rivalry matchup. Gunner Stockton threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns, while Chauncey Bowens delivered the deciding blow with a 36-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, securing the Bulldogs’ fifth straight victory in the series.

Georgia’s defense came up big on a fourth-and-1 stop inside its own 20-yard line with eight minutes remaining, setting up the go-ahead drive. Stockton connected twice with Zachariah Branch before Bowens raced up the middle for the winning score. Branch led the Bulldogs with 10 receptions for 112 yards, and the backfield duo of Bowens and Nate Frazier combined for 115 rushing yards as Georgia improved to 7-1 overall and 5-1 in SEC play.

Florida (3-5, 2-3 SEC) responded with a strong effort in its first game under interim coach Billy Gonzales. Freshman wideout Eugene Wilson III had a breakout performance with nine catches for 121 yards and a touchdown, while quarterback DJ Lagway totaled 223 yards passing but came up short on a potential game-winning drive when a deep pass fell incomplete in the final minute.

The Bulldogs overcame injuries and adversity, losing defensive lineman Jordan Hall to a knee injury and defensive back KJ Bolden to a targeting ejection. Florida also saw receiver Dallas Wilson exit at halftime with a foot injury. The win keeps Georgia within striking distance of the SEC title race and among the top five in the national rankings.
