🔑 Cipher Text Definition: Encrypted form of plain text produced using an encryption algorithm + key. Purpose: Keeps the message secret — only someone with the correct decryption key can turn it back into plain text. Example: Plain Text: HELLO After encryption (Caesar Cipher shift 3): KHOOR 👉 Cipher text is reversible (can be decrypted back). --- 🔒 Hash Definition: A fixed-length string generated from input data using a hashing algorithm (e.g., MD5, SHA-256). Purpose: Ensures data integrity — if even one character changes, the hash output is completely different. Example: Input: HELLO SHA-256 Hash: 185f8db32271fe25f561a6fc938b2e264306ec304eda518007d1764826381969 👉 Hash is one-way (cannot be reversed). --- ✅ Difference in one line: Cipher Text = Encrypted data (reversible with key).
