Monsoon Updates: Kerala Red Alert, Water Recedes in Karnataka 💧

Even as heavy downpour continued to hit several parts of the country on Tuesday, death toll in the flood-affected areas in four states mounted up to 225. A total of 91 died in Kerala with 59 missing. Red alert has been issued in districts of Malappuram and Kozhikode, and Orange alert has been issued in districts of Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod for Wednesday. In Karnataka, Orange alert has been issued to coastal districts and Yellow alert to Malnad districts for next five days. Water is receding in many districts of the state and rescue operations have picked up pace as more than 6.9 lakhs are stranded and homeless. 54 people have lost their lives while another 15 are missing in Karnataka. In Maharashtra, Sangali and Kolhapur regions are gradually limping back to normalcy. Death toll in the flood hit areas has now risen to 36. The efforts to deliver food, water and medicines are still on at many villages as lakhs of people have been displaced.
