Moles: Causes, Treatment & Tips from Dermatologists

▪️Moles are a very common occurrence. There is no way to control the size or number of moles. Limiting sun exposure may help if you have multiple moles.

▪️Moles or Melanocytic Nevus can be of three types:
1️⃣Junctional: the Nevus cells are present at base layer of epidermis ( upper skin layer)
2️⃣Dermal: Nevus cells are present in deeper dermal layer
3️⃣Compound : Nevus cells are present in both lower epidermal and dermal layer

▪️Treatment
This depends on type, size and site of mole.
Smaller junctional moles can be removed with co2 laser or RF ablation
Compound and dermal moles require excision and suturing to prevent recurrence.
